Formal letter to Prime Minister Singh

Dear Prime Minister Singh,

Disappointment in how the police mishandled the rape incident

The rape incident that happened in New Delhi had been spread worldwide. At the same time, many people are very disappointed with how the police in India handled this case including myself. I am writing this to tell you how disappointed I am about the way police in India handled such cases.

Firstly, I felt that the police in India are not serious at work. Example, the recent rape case that happened in New Delhi showed us that police in India treated rape cases as nothing. It was reported on the news that the boyfriend of the rape victim said that both he and his girlfriend were seriously injured. However, when the police arrived at the scene, they delayed the time by arguing over who had the jurisdiction instead of sending the naked and bloodied couple to the hospital.

Secondly, I felt that the police in India handled rape cases hastily. It has been mentioned that in the past, rape victims were asked to marry the rapist instead of the rapist being punished. It sounded so ridiculous to many people around the world. We are already in the 21st century and yet the judicial system of India is moving at a very slow pace. Have you ever thought about how the rape victims felt if they were to marry off to the rapist who had once hurt them? Could you imagine if one of them was your daughter?

Thirdly, I am very disappointed with how the women in India are treated. Women were banned from using handphones, wear jeans, shorts and even t-shirts. It was said that to reduce love affair, elopement and rape cases. Does it really help to decrease the number of rape cases? Even if it does, both love affairs and elopement involves male, but why are they not banned from using handphones? In fact, by doing this, it only makes the females in India inferior.

Lastly, I hope you will look into these problems and make changes to the judicial system in India and have better treatment towards the women in India. In addition, I hope you will be able to improve on the way police handle rape cases.

Yours sincerely,

Lay Hoon

This statement sounds very rude, you sould say "Can you imgaine what will happen if one was your family member?"
